Road Closure: right turn lane on Lamar at Riverside
This week, on the north bound right turn lane on South Lamar Boulevard just before West Riverside Drive, a solid wall barricade was erected. Not even the decency to put up traffic cones so that cyclists could still get through. Instead, bikes, cars, scooters are all suddenly merged into the middle lane of northbound Lamar traffic.
Riverside going east from Lamar is completely closed off. The only reason that I can fathom is the construction going on at Butler Park Pitch & Putt. There is heavy machinery parked on the edge of the golf course on green 9. Yet, there’s no information on their website about any construction or closure.
This evening, before the construction barricade, there were two big trucks parked with bright flashing lights. Construction workers in hard hats and reflective vests were walking between the trucks on the traffic side. As if the trucks, traffic and barricade weren’t enough things to try to avoid hitting!
In addition, for pedestrians, there is a cute little barricade on the edge of the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge in front of Riverside. Guess this means “Sidewalk Closed”? Be safe out there, everyone!
