Sunflower priorities

As a cyclist, I’m always analyzing items by how much weight they’re going to add and whether I can fit them in my backpack or panniers. Things in glass jars are often avoided if possible, although I do have a favorite glass jar yogurt. My downfall is usually library books.

It’s always interesting to see what other cyclists consider worth it to carry on their bikes.

Today, a cyclist caught my eye. It wasn’t because he had a shopping bag on each handlebar. It was the fact that peeking over his shoulder was a bouquet of sunflowers sticking out of his backpack; and, he had a bag on each handlebar.

My overly pragmatic mind couldn’t compute giving up prime backpack space for flowers. However, maybe I need to change my priorities now and then to make way for a little beauty in my cycling lifestyle.
